Mobydick – A Multi-Cuisine Restaurant in Koramangala, Bangalore

Mobydick Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Mobydick, a restaurant located at a prime location in Koramangala, Bangalore is truly a multi-cuisine restaurant that serves delicious food from all popular cuisines. The reason I emphasized on the multi-cuisine term is because they have a variety of food and drinks in their menu, from the local favourite, Nati specialities to Pan Asian, Bengali cuisine to Italian food, and American to English. Everything is served under one roof and the food is just superb in taste and quality!

Because, I went with a group of friends, I had an opportunity to taste most of the items from their menu and almost everything was great in taste and a few were above average, if not very good. In fact, their mocktails and some of the dishes left me awestruck!

I am wondering why I didn’t visit this place earlier. They have an edge over the competitors with their pricing, which is a bit on the lower side thereby, making them a reasonably priced restaurant in the restaurant hub of Bangalore.

ORDER

I started off my food explorations at Mobydick with their signature drinks. I tried their Melted Brownie Hot Chocolate, Chilli Guava, Strawberry Lemonade, Blue Ice Crusher, Orange Lemonade, Red Velvet Shake, Iced Tiramisu Shake, Lemon Ice Tea, and Peach Ice Tea.

In starters, I had their Barbeque Chicken Wings, Kasundi Fish, Double Pepper Lamb, Mac n Cheese Samosa, and Garlic bread.

In main course, I tried the Nati Chicken Curry with Rice, Philly Cheese Steak Burger, BBQ Chicken Steak, Grilled Lamb Steak, Indonesian Curry Noodles, Black Pepper Fettuccine Pasta with Wild Mushrooms, and Thai Green Veg Curry.

They have a good variety of desserts in their menu, I tasted the Salted Caramel Cheesecake, Sizzling Brownie, and Tiramisu.

TASTE AND QUALITY

I have recently developed the taste and love for hot chocolates and so, I couldn’t resist myself from tasting it, whenever I get a chance. As it was in Mobydick’s menu, I tried the Melted Brownie Hot Chocolate and was amazed to see that they made it so perfect. It was very tasty and I enjoyed it.

Chilli Guava is a must-try beverage at this restaurant. It tasted somewhat similar to a Virgin Guava Mary mocktail, however the hotness of the chillies in it was not very high and in control so that you actually enjoy it while drinking. The aroma of Guava and a hint of chilli flavour was amazing! The glass had the red chilli powder coating on the edges, so you get an absolutely lip-smacking taste and a wonderful flavour altogether.

Strawberry Lemonade was another special drink that they have in their menu. The taste of fresh strawberries and lemon juice is a delightful combination. It was really refreshing and another must-have drink at Mobydick.

Orange Lemonade, Blue Ice Crusher, Lemon Ice Tea, and Peach Ice Tea were refreshing, and I liked it. Along with food, it was a nice combination to sip these drinks.

When I ordered the Red Velvet Shake and Iced Tiramisu Shake, I was speculating about the taste and quality of the beverages. As I love the taste of Red Velvet cake and Tiramisu, so I knew that if they make it well, it would be delightful experience to enjoy my drinks. So, no wonder that they made it really well and my expectations from them were absolutely correct. I loved both the drinks and would recommend them.

Barbeque Chicken Wings was delicious and cooked to perfection. It’s a worth trying it at Mobydick. The sauce was good and flavourful. I’m a fan of Chicken Wings and this is definitely a good one, the taste was slightly sweet and smoky.

Kasundi Fish was pleasing to the eye and tongue. It’s a Bengali-style Basa fish starter, which had the essence of Kasundi, which is a Bengali mustard sauce. I really like Kasundi and its pungent flavour, so it’s always there in my kitchen. I had high expectations from this dish, and it lived up to its name. Although, the flavour and aroma of mustard is there in it, but it doesn’t overpower the fish and doesn’t make it pungent, which is good as you get the taste of fish as well.

Double Pepper Lamb was hot and spicy! Recommended for people who love to eat spicy. But it’s not all, it has all the flavours and ingredients to justify its name. The mutton was tender and well cooked.

Mac n Cheese Samosa was appetizing! I loved the taste and the quality was also good. The stuffing inside was superb and made it a good to try item in starters from the menu.

Garlic Bread was absolutely lip-smacking, and its presentation was enticing. It was served like a pizza and I liked it. This is definitely an innovative way to present such a simple dish.

Nati Chicken Curry with Rice was slightly above average in taste. Although, they tried to make it the way it is supposed to be, and the authenticity was there to a good extent, but some chances of improvements are there. Perhaps, this is not a bad option as you get to taste the local cuisine at a cozy place that serves almost everything.

Philly Cheese Steak Burger was scrumptious. I liked it and the overall quality was good.

BBQ Chicken Steak was yummy, and it was served with garlic breads and salad. The chicken was well cooked, tender, and tasted very well. I liked the way they had presented the steak.

Grilled Lamb Steak was not impressive and although, the presentation was really good, I didn’t like the taste much.

Indonesian Curry Noodles was delightful, and I enjoyed having it. It was just perfect; the flavours and aroma were authentic, and the taste was too good.

Fettuccine is my favourite type of pasta and I always crave for it. It’s not easily available at every other restaurant so whenever I get a chance of having it, I make sure that I don’t miss it. Having said that, I found that Mobydick had Black Pepper Fettuccine Pasta with Wild Mushrooms in their menu, so I decided to try it. It was creamy and cheesy, too good to resist and an absolutely drool-worthy preparation. I loved the taste and quality and would recommend having it at this restaurant.

I am also a Thai food lover and have tried the authentic Thai food during my trip to Thailand. Some of the popular Thai recipes are already a part of Mobydick’s kitchen, so I wanted to try out something. Keeping this in mind, I ordered their Thai Green Veg Curry. The aroma was mouth-watering, and the taste was too good. It was a scrumptious and authentic preparation. I would call it as a must-try item at Mobydick.

Salted Caramel Cheesecake was a scrummy dessert that I had at Mobydick. It was fluffy, palatable, and its texture was perfect for a cheesecake.

Sizzling Brownie with Ice Cream was absolutely yummy. It came in the sizzler tray, and the brownie was sizzling and hot to justify its name. The Ice Cream, which was melting all over the brownie made it a really tasty preparation. I loved the taste and presentation.

Tiramisu was another favourite dessert that looked tempting and was toothsome.

AMBIENCE AND SERVICE

Ambience is classy with nice décor. They have two floors and ample seating area to accommodate a group of friends or big families. The setup is done nicely like a café with medium lighting that is neither too bright nor too dim.

Service was pleasant and prompt, they prepared everything quickly and served with a smile. The staff is polite and courteous, they also ensured that our experience is a good one.

Big Wong XL – A Pan Asian Restaurant in Koramangala, Bangalore

Big Wong, an established name for Pan Asian cuisine in Delhi NCR recently opened their restaurant in Bangalore in the Koramangala area. I had been a regular customer of the oldest Big Wong restaurant in Baani Square, Gurgaon and I wanted them to open the chain in Bangalore as I was missing their food for so long. Recently, when I saw their board as Big Wong XL in Koramangala, I wondered if it’s the original Big Wong from Gurgaon or a similar named other restaurant. So, I went there one fine evening and on enquiring, they happily told me that it’s the same restaurant chain from Gurgaon.

The restaurant size is big enough, and they have a beautiful décor. It’s situated at a prime location near Jyoti Nivas College so it’s easy to find and they offer valet parking as well. The lighting is dim and perfect for a dinner date or to celebrate an occasion.

ORDER, TASTE, AND QUALITY:

I went there with a group of friends, so we tried out many dishes from their menu, I started off with mocktails and tried their Virgin Pina Colada and Basil Apple drink.

In starters, I tried their Corn with Spinach, Steamed Fish with Black Bean Sauce, Honey Crispy Chicken, Chilli Honey Lotus Stems, Cheese Rolls, Prawn Tempura, and Smoky Crispy Lamb.

They also offer a variety of Sushis and dim sums. So, I tried Corn and Spinach and Chicken Siu Mai dim sum, and from the options to choose in Shushi, I chose to have Crab Stick Kani and Veg Tempura Roll.

After having so many starters, I had not much appetite left for main course, but I wanted to try out, so I had Pad Thai and Green Thai Curry served with Sticky Rice.

In desserts, I had Darsaan and Choco Bomb.

Virgin Pina Colada was as usual, nothing different but tasted good. The Basil Apple drink was quite refreshing, and I loved it. The drink was tempting and the presentation was good.

Corn and Spinach was delectable and drool-worthy. I liked it and the crispy spinach on top added a lot of flavour and visual appeal.

Steamed Fish with Black Bean Sauce was appetizing, and the fish was cooked to perfection.

Honey Crispy Chicken is a good-to-have starter at Big Wong. It had a bit of sweetness mixed with spices to make it an awesome preparation. The surface was crisp while the chicken was soft from inside.

Chilli Honey Lotus Stems and Cheese Rolls were also toothsome.

Being a seafood fan, I loved their Prawn Tempura. It was palatable and flavourful. The prawns were fresh, and the quality was good.

Smoky Crispy Lamb didn’t impress me much. It was an average preparation and although, not bad but nothing much to crave for.

Both the Corn and Spinach and Chicken Siu Mai dim sums were pretty average and had a wow factor missing in them. It was neither a great preparation nor something excellent but yes, taste wise they weren’t bad, just average. The dim sums were not soft and not too hard as well. Between the two dim sums that I tried, I liked Corn and Spinach better than the Non-Vegetarian Siu Mai.

I was disappointed to some extent after trying their Sushis. They have really good starters and other main course dishes but sadly, the Sushis, which I tried were not good in taste. I am putting this experience in a gentle language so as not to sound harsh on my favourite restaurant since long, but I was definitely disappointed. They need to work on it to take it to the next level. The Veg Tempura Roll is somewhat better and edible but the Crab Stick Kani, not at all.

Green Thai Curry with Sticky Rice was OK in taste, and it had an aroma of Thai condiments. The flavours were intact and authentic.

Pad Thai was again an authentic preparation and thanks to Big Wong for keeping the authenticity alive in it. It tasted good and the flavours were just perfect.

In desserts, Darsaan was made with crispy honey wonton strips and vanilla Ice cream. It was pleasant in taste, and the texture was a bit sticky.

Choco bomb had a lot of innovation and they had added Snickers to it. The taste was really good, and I liked it.

SERVICE AND AMBIENCE:

The service at Big Wong is a big plus point, as they have a very polite and courteous staff. They are well trained and know the etiquettes. The service here is at par with some starred hotels.

Ambience is perfect for a date or social gathering with dim lights and nice décor. It is upmarket and classy. They also have some funny quotes written in the washroom, which are hilarious and might make you laugh. The seating is comfortable, and they have many options to choose from in the seats.

Barbeque Nation – Legendary Buffet Chain with New Innovations

Barbeque Nation Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

It’s been well over 11 years since Barbeque Nation started its operations and introduced the new concept of Do-it-Yourself (DIY) live grill on Table back then. It had been a pioneer of great buffet places and a reputed buffet chain across cities.

I am a regular customer of Barbeque Nation in Delhi, Gurgaon, and now in Bangalore as well. While a lot has been already talked about Barbeque Nation and the food they serve and most of the foodie community is already aware of it, this post is for their food festivals, particularly the seafood festival, which they recently hosted.

They host such food festivals from time-to-time and I wish them all the best for it. I would like to see many such food festivals being held, which brings a feeling of freshness and innovation in their buffet and also provides many exotic options in food to the foodies!

I visited Barbeque Nation, Koramangala in Bangalore recently for their Seafood festival and I was amused to see the variety of food being served. They hosted this food festival across all outlets. It was a welcome addition to the regular buffet they serve. The food festival was held between 31st Jan to 11th Feb, 2018.

FOOD AND TASTE:

The special food menu included a variety of fishes, crabs, squids, mussels, and lobster. The Popcorn Crusted Fish Fingers, Mumbai Bangda Fish Fry, Seer Fried Anchovy, Mussels Rava Fried, Fish Curry (Nellore Style), and Sri Lankan Crab curry are the highlights of this seafood festival.

All the dishes were cooked to perfection. Lobsters could be ordered as ala carte. I really liked the seafood and Sri Lankan Crab curry was just brilliant. These delicacies were available at the live counter and also there was a specially designed vegetarian menu for this festival. So, the vegetarians can also find something special being served.

SERVICE AND AMBIENCE:

Service has always been phenomenal at Barbeque Nation and this is one of the differentiators. I never witnessed a bad or mediocre service at any of their restaurants. The staff including managers are all well trained, polite, and courteous. This level of service makes you feel special,

Ambience is classy, and they have a various seating options available. Spread across two floors, this restaurant also has a rooftop and covered place. You can select where you want to sit, and the staff happily caters to your requirements.

Zero Kelvin – Reach Absolute Zero in Koramangala, Bangalore

The lowest possible temperature at absolute zero (-273.15 °C), the name 0K gives a thought of unimaginable cold wave and shivering. This is when all molecular motion stops, reaching absolute zero is impossible in real life! However, as a foodie and shakes lover, I say that you can definitely reach Zero Kelvin in Koramangala, Bangalore. A well-thought-out name for a new shakes and dessert parlour in the Koramangala area of Bangalore city, Zero Kelvin serves a good variety of thick shakes and waffles. The location is prime and easy to find. I recommend this place for their signature waffles and shakes.

ORDER, TASTE, AND QUALITY:
On an invitation by the parlour, I went with a group of foodie friends. We tried many of their milk shakes and waffles.
THICK SHAKES:
In shakes, they only have thick shakes in their menu, so I tried their Crunchy Almond Shake, Love For Oreo Shake, Ferrero Rocher Shake, Banana Shake, and Blueberry Shake.
Crunchy Almond Shake was the undoubtedly the best shake that they served us. It had the perfect flavour of roasted almonds with a crackling substance coming in between the tongue, which is their secret. The consistency was thick, but it can be consumed using a straw. The flavours were in proportion and taste was absolutely yummy.

One of the best shakes that they serve is definitely the Love For Oreo Shake. It was loaded with crushed Oreo cookies, which was delectable. Probably, the best you can get here as a chocolate lover.
Properly blended with milk and banana flavour, the Banana Shake did justice to its name. It was really yummy and also my favourite. It’s different than the ones served at other places. Being a fruit lover, this one is my personal recommendation.
Although, I had high expectations of taste from the Ferrero Rocher shake, however, it didn’t impress me at all and a chance of improvement is there. It’s not that it was bad but to stand out they should think of adding more innovation to enhance the taste.
Blueberry shake was good in taste but a tad sweeter than required. Instead, the suggestion is to add fresh fruit, as suggested by other bloggers. They have a chance of improvement and to make it better than the rest of the market.
WAFFLES:
I tried their Chocolicious waffle, Chef’s Special waffle, and Taste of Heaven waffle. They serve some really yummy waffles and the quality is too good. Chef’ Special waffle was too good and absolutely heavenly. It was loaded with strawberries, banana, kiwi, and scoops of a variety of Ice creams. I liked the toppings and the superb presentation. This is their signature waffle and a must-try delicacy here. The taste was awesome.

WaterMark_2017-12-29-15-22-30

Chocolicious waffle was also good in taste and quality. It was made with dark chocolate and the taste was good for someone, who likes dark chocolate.
Taste of Heaven waffle was made with strawberry Ice cream and syrup. It was good in taste, but a suggestion is that they should add fresh fruits to it than just the flavours. Of course, they do add those fruits in their Chef’s Special waffle, but at least fresh strawberries should be added in Taste of Heaven to make it more flavoursome.
Overall, this place is recommended to try some yummy delights and allow your taste buds to relish some exotic sweet flavours.

SERVICE AND AMBIENCE:
Their service is really quick, and the staff has a good knowledge of what they serve. The owner Mr. Swamy is polite and personally ensured that our experience is good.
Ambience is nice and decent enough for a parlour. They have good interiors and seating area where you can relax and enjoy your drinks.

Smise – A New Café in Koramangala, Bangalore

Smise is a new name in the long list of cafés in Koramangala, Bangalore. Newly opened and situated strategically near Sony signal in Koramangala, Bangalore, the location is excellent and on the main road itself. So, reaching this place is not difficult, as they have an advertisement board at the front of the building. I went on an invitation and along with a group of food bloggers, so I got a chance to taste many of their delectable food items. It’s rooftop cafe, which provides a choice of two seating areas, covered and an open area as well.

Smise has an elaborate and well-constructed menu and they serve some lip-smacking food items. The primary cuisines they serve are Mediterranean, American, and Italian. They also have board games and foosball to play and a good collection of novels. These fun activities are available for free and there are no extra charges for it, which is a plus point. This cafe is easy on the pocket too.

ORDER, TASTE, AND QUALITY:

I tried a variety of food items including salad, starters, pizza, and main course. They also have a collection of thirst-quenching mocktails and yummy desserts, which I savoured to end my experience on a refreshing and sweet note.

SALAD:
Although, they have a good variety of salads in their menu, I had the Honey Citrus Salad, which was prepared with refreshing citrus flavours. It was amazing and a must-try item there.

WaterMark_2017-12-24-00-34-11

STARTERS AND MAIN COURSE:
We tried their Masala Fries, Chicken Drumsticks, Carolina Chicken Skewer, 7 Spice Chicken Skewer, Nut Cracker, Pita and Hummus, and Panko Crumb Fried Chicken Tender, Vegetable Timber, Fish and Chips, and Baked Macaroni in White Sauce.
They have some delicious items in their menu and my personal favourites are Chicken Drumsticks, Pita and Hummus, Fish and Chips, and Masala Fries.
Panko Crumb Fried Chicken Tender is also delicious! A special mention for Bacon Wrapped Cajun Prawns, it is delectable and a must-try delicacy.

PIZZA:
I tried their Exotic Veg Pizza. It was yummy, and they had added a generous amount of Veg toppings on it.

MOCKTAILS:
In mocktails, we had Double Berry Cooler, Oreo shake, Virgin Mojito, Virgin Bloody Mary, Cinderella, and Chilli Mocker.
I loved the taste of Virgin Bloody Mary and Double Berry Cooler. All the other drinks are also good.

DESSERTS:
I had the Apple Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream and Fudge Sauce.
I liked the Brownie and Apple Cobbler.

SERVICE AND AMBIENCE:
Ambience is decent, and both the sections have beautiful interiors and are nicely decorated. This place has a lot of board games, a foosball table, and novels to spend a great time while dining. These are available at no extra charge while having your meals at this café.
Service is also very good, and the owner and service staff personally ensures that you are served well, and the overall experience is a good one.

Sultans of Spice – A Sultani Gastronomic Delight!

Sultans of Spice Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Sultans of Spice is located on the 4th floor of Hotel BluePetal, which also has another famous buffet restaurant, Buff Buffet Buff. Sultans of Spice is a restaurant, which specializes in North Indian food, particularly Delhi, Punjabi, and Afghani food. This place serves buffet during lunch hours and ala carte during dinner. While I am a regular customer at Buff Buffet Buffet, I heard a lot about Sultans of Spice and wanted to try this restaurant since long. The restaurant is located at a prime location on Jyoti Nivas College road in Koramangala.

I went there with my blogger/reviewer friends on a food-tasting invite. As I entered inside, I noticed that this place has a superb ambience and excellent décor that matches with the concept very well. We were greeted very well, and the staff showed us the seating area. Meanwhile, Mr. Manoj, who is the Hotel Manager and his staff came to meet us. They told us about the concept of this restaurant and the kind of food items they serve. The staff is polite and extremely courteous!

ORDER, TASTE, AND QUALITY:

DRINKS:

I started ordering with the drinks. They have a good collection of cocktails and also, they have some excellent signature drinks. So, we ordered 7 Wonders Of The Bar, Watta ! Melon, and Green Appletini.

While 7 Wonders of The Bar includes 7 different alcohols with lime juice and ice, it is also the strongest cocktail among others. It’s their signature drink and tastes good. A suggestion is to add more ice to make the proportions right to improve the drinkability of this special drink.

Watta ! Melon is also their special cocktail, served in a highball glass and prepared with watermelon chunks, lime juice, melon syrup, and Gin. It is the most refreshing drink I had in the recent past! Absolutely mind-blowing and refreshing, it was also on a lighter side and I could hardly feel any bitterness, which was good.

Green Appletini is equally refreshing as Watta ! Melon. I really enjoyed it. As the name suggests, it was made with Vodka and Green Apple syrup. It was served in a cocktail glass and had a perfect combination of alcohol and syrup.

WaterMark_2017-12-22-02-42-45

This restaurant also has a good collection of mocktails, which we couldn’t try this time.

SOUPS:

I tried their Badam Aur Murg Ka Shorba and Dal Subz Shorba.

While Badam Aur Murg Ka Shorba sounds good, it lacked some essential flavours. Although, it had grated almonds added to it, I couldn’t identify any taste of Chicken or Almonds in it. It was just bland and salty.

The Dal Subz Shorba was delectable!

STARTERS:

In starters, I had Dumwala Old Monk Chicken Wings, Murg Taftan, Makai Aur Cheese Ke Kebab, Galouti Kabab, Prawn Lollypop, Amritsari Bharwan Taang, Chatpata Paneer Roll, Triple Seekh Kebab, and Chicken Malai Tikka.

I will give full marks to the Chef for bringing innovation in the menu items. I could really see the hard work to make the regular food items different from others. Dumwala Old Monk Chicken Wings is a signature item, in which the chicken wings are flamed with Old Monk to give a unique bitter and sweet taste. Absolutely innovative!

Amritsari Bharwan Taang was amazing! The chicken leg pieces were stuffed with mutton keema to make it a wholesome experience. This is a splendid combination and worked well.

Chicken Malai Tikka was probably the best I had ever in Bangalore. I remember having such Malai Tikka in New Delhi. It was authentic and delicious. The chicken pieces were tender and succulent.

Prawn Lollypop is also an innovative item where garlic and chilly flavoured minced prawn is served on a small sugarcane stick. It was yummy, and I liked the concept. However, the staff should bring this out more clearly that it is not a regular stick but a sugarcane stick.

Makai Aur Cheese Ke Kebab had the perfect combination of cheese and corn. It was good.

Galouti Kabab was OK and it was close to the authentic recipe of Lucknow. I don’t compare it with the ones available in Lucknow but for Bangalore, it is probably one of the best Galouti Kabab. It didn’t melt completely in mouth unlike the authentic Galouti Kabab, still it was appetizing.

All other starters that I had were delicious.

MAIN COURSE:

In main course, I had Dal Sultani, Butter Chicken, Sarso Da Saag, Nalli Gosht, Sultani Kofta, and breads, which had Garlic Naan, Makke Di Roti, and Tandoori Roti. I am fond of the main course at Buff Buffet Buff and I had the same expectation here. I am happy that BluePetal didn’t disappoint me. They are famous for serving the main course as good as the starters, which is to an extent less seen.

Dal Sultani was excellent in taste and quality. I enjoyed it to the fullest. Butter Chicken was delicious as well. Sarso Sa Saag was an authentic Punjabi preparation, and very close to what you get in the Punjabi families. It was good in taste and reminded me of my visits to Punjab.

Nalli Gosht was scrumptious and I relished it. Being a Non-Vegetarian, I still liked their Sultani Kofta the most! It is a lip-smacking delicacy by the Chef. I really enjoyed the Kofta and its gravy.

DESSERTS:

In desserts we witnessed a lot of uniqueness and innovation again. I had Gulabo and Gajar Halwa Ki  Seekh.

Gulabo is basically Rose Phirni, flavoured by Rooh Afza kind of syrup. It was yummy! I absolutely loved it. Gajar Halwa Ki Seekh is a unique dessert, which I haven’t seen anywhere. It’s chef’s own creation. It’s prepared by making a kind of dry Gajar ka Halwa and put it on the skewers to grill it in tandoor. Yes, you read it correctly, they grill the Halwa and it’s presented like a seekh kebab. Amazing creation! By the way, it tasted really good.

SERVICE AND AMBIENCE:

The staff is courteous and polite. They have a high-level of service and they leave no stone unturned to make your experience, a great one.

Ambience is classy, and they have an excellent décor. They also have separate areas with curtains for candle light dinners.

Sharief Bhai, Koramangala – A Non-Vegetarian’s Paradise!

Sharief Bhai Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Sharief Bhai serves good-quality authentic Muslim cuisine, which is not easy to find in Bangalore. This restaurant is an absolute delight for a non-vegetarian food lover. Strategically located at a prime location near Jyoti Nivas College in Koramangala, this place provides an excellent hospitality and altogether a great dining experience!

A couple, Mr. Nawaz Sharief and his wife Mrs. Falak Nawaz Sharief runs the restaurant. All off their recipes are authentic and prepared the way it’s done in Muslim families. This restaurant serves the most exclusive gastronomic delights, which is not found elsewhere. They have an open kitchen where all the magic happens, so you can see your food being cooked.

I visited this restaurant on a food-tasting invite along with other reviewers/bloggers and we were warmly greeted by the owners. They have a thorough understanding and knowledge about the food that they serve, and this is a big differentiator unlike many others! In fact, their good home recipes are being carried forward by this generation, and they are highly quality-focused. So, you get the original taste in the food, and of course they have some secrets to make it better and lighter on the stomach as well. 😊

ORDER, TASTE, AND QUALITY:

DRINK:

I started off with Apshoola, which is a drink made with lemon and cardamom. It helps in increasing the appetite. It’s basically a unique and aromatic lime water preparation. I loved the flavour, it’s different than what you get anywhere else.

SOUP:

In soups, I had Gosht Marag, which is an almond-flavoured Gosht soup. It had chunks of tender mutton and was full of the aroma and taste of almonds. I relished it fully.

PATTHAR KE PAKWAAN:

These are the delicacies cooked on stone. All food items are absolutely delectable in this section and a must-try when you’re there. I tried their Patthar Gosht, Gosht Shami Kebab, Gosht Kaali Mirchi Ki Sukki Phaal, Gosht Lal Mirchi ki Sukki Phaal, and Murg Kaali Mirchi Ki Sukki Phaal.

As the name suggests, Patthar Gosht is a mutton preparation, where pieces are cooked on a heated stone and flattened to perfection. But this is not all, the way it’s done is an art and that provides the authentic taste in mutton. Also, the meat they choose for all their mutton preparations is Lamb meat only so it’s tender and flavourful. The mutton pieces are cut selectively keeping in mind what tastes best for different types of delicacies.

Gosht Shami Kebab is a mutton preparation, in which boiled egg is stuffed inside.

Gosht Kaali Mirchi Ki Sukki Phaal and Gosht Lal Mirchi ki Sukki Phaal are basically same food items with the only difference being the choice of chilly, black pepper or red chilly. Phaal is a prepared by cutting the Lamb pieces from the rib section in a specific manner and then it’s pulled apart and cooked on the stone. These Phaals were new to me and I truly enjoyed both. It’s worth mentioning that they prepare their own spices and don’t buy from outside. Hence, you get a delightful taste and quality.

TAWE KE PAKWAAN:

These are shallow pan-fried delicacies. In non-vegetarian, I tried Gurda Kaleji Fry, Bheja Fry, Anjal Tawa Fry, and Prawns Tawa Fry. In Veg, I had Mushroom Lal Mirch and Paneer Kali Mirch.

Gurda Kaleji Fry is basically the kidney and liver of a Lamb, which are fried on a Tawa. I’m not a big fan of Gurda and Kaleji, still I loved this preparation at Sharief Bhai. It was way different and much better than the ones I tried elsewhere.

Bheja Fry or Brain Fry is a popular Muslim preparation. I have had this before a couple of times. It was absolutely delicious! The tiny pieces of brain melts in mouth in no time. Perfectly spiced with curry leaves, this one is my favourite!

Anjal Tawa Fry is a fried Seer fish preparation. It had the aroma and taste of a fried fish.

Prawns Tawa Fry is again good in taste and quality.

Although, there isn’t much for vegetarians here, but they do have limited but good options for vegetarian friends. Mushroom Lal Mirch and Paneer Kaali Mirch are definitely saviours for Veg lovers at this place. Both the veg food items tasted like the way they are supposed to.

BHUNE PAKWAAN:

These are the grilled food items. I tried Murg Tangdi Kebab and it was lip-smacking. The leg piece of chicken lwas grilled to perfection with the right spices and flavours. A splendid preparation, which tasted very well.

TALAN PAKWAAN:

These are the deep-fried items. I tried Chicken Kebab and it was delicious. Although, deep-fried but it was easy on the stomach.

AHEM KHANA:

These are the main course food items. I tried their Nalli Nahari, Cutt Kofte Ande, and Gosht Hare Masale ki Phaal. We also had Laccha Paratha, which was very soft and Kushka as accompaniments.

Nalli Nihari is mildly-spiced, a bit different than others and can be customized to taste. Cutt Kofte Ande is a scrumptious preparation made with boiled eggs and Kofte in a mouth-watering gravy. I enjoyed it the most.

Chicken Hare Masale ki Phaal was also good. All the gravy items were delicious and with Laccha Paratha and Kushka, it was a perfect combination.

DEGH-KE-PAKWAAN:

These are the rice items, which are made in a Deg (cooking pot). I enjoyed their Har-dil-Azeez Gosht Biryani and Murg Hyderabadi Dum Biryani.

Har-dil-Azeez Gosht Biryani is mutton biryani prepared with jeera samba rice. It was amazing! The biryani had the perfect aroma and flavours and the mutton pieces were succulent. This is a must-try item at this restaurant.

Murg Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is prepared with long grain Basmati rice and chicken. It was good in taste and quality.

MITTHAY:

This category is for the sweet items, the desserts. I tried Muzzafar and Matka Phirni. Both the desserts were yummy! I liked the flavour of Muzzafar, which is similar to Phirni. It’s probably the best dessert I had in the recent past and a perfect choice to end your dinner on a sweet note.

SERVICE AND AMBIENCE:

Ambience is fine at this restaurant, they have a decent space to accommodate large families. Nice décor and an open kitchen, and it clearly shows their intent and passion.

The service is absolutely incredible. The owners welcomed and sat with us to explain all the items in their menu and how it is prepared. They were not hesitant in answering to queries and gave a detailed insight about the Muslim cuisine. Great hospitality, I must say. It’s not that they were so good only to us but to anyone who visits the restaurant.
